We didn’t put a tree up this year, so pa just hung tinsel from my glasses and spun me around while holding a length of strung pop corn. He thinks I look great, but the dogs are all over me. Company arrives at two. Should we start making more pop corn?

ROFL!
Yes, make more pop corn. Let the company get in on the fun of decorating too!
Thanks for the laugh Ma!

We are having the traditional lunch at my in-laws so I want something different for dinner. Any ideas? Thanks!
I am only cooking for my husband and 2 kids for dinner. We are doing the family thing on Christmas Eve and Christmas morning. We just want something different for dinner. I am not afraid to attempt something new.

My family tradition (before my grandma got old) was Beef Stroganoff, mashed potatoes w/gravy, green bean casserole, jello, dinner rolls and dessert was cookies.
I loved this! It was not fancy but it was delicious!

We love to have holiday parties and this year we are in our new house and I really want to go over the top. We always have a huge tree and we have a great staircase that I want to do garland and lights cascading.
Have you done anything unique or seen anything unique that you can pass along? I love the smell of candles & potpourri as well but always seem to fall in the same trap of "traditional".
I would love some great centerpiece ideas as well!
Thanks for your help!
we also have a big staircase, I took copies of old sheet music and folded it into a cone shape and used wide holiday ribbon to attach the cones to the stair well and filled the cones with ivy and Holli for a great affect. Cost was low, then I did the same to the back of my dining room chairs and around door nobs in the house. It all tied together well. Also try using children’s toys to hold candles. I use a big red fire truck every year. I just place tea lights in clear glass votive holders and line up along the back of the fire struck and set the truck in the center of my table. Christmas is about the kids so incorporating some of that into the theme is easy and fun.

This will be my first Christmas away from my family, I just moved to CA, and really need to make xmas special so that I dont feel so homesick. I will be planning a dinner with my roomate, a friend, and a ladyfriend. What is traditional fare for xmas? I was going to get a ham, but how about turkey, chix, or some sort of beef? How much is prime rib? I dont think spam would cut it. Also, could use ideas for side dishes. Thanks. Happy Holidays.
Traditional Christmas dinner in California is either a ham or turkey, usually accompanied with some sort of potato dish, some sort of fruit dish (mandarin oranges, pears, fruit salad), and followed by a pie or cake for dessert. In parts of California, tamales and menudo are also traditional fare.
It’s YOUR holiday, so do whatever you feel like eating. Whatever is your personal "comfort food." Heck, you can go out for McDonalds if you want. Do whatever makes you happy, and start your own tradition.

Me and my roommates want to decorate out room for Christmas but are unsure of what to do. What are some creative ideas? We are up for any suggestions. What are some fun festive ideas to make our dorm more Christmas friendly?
A small christmas tree, a bow on the door, and make a bunch of snowflakes. (it seems childish, but it gets the spirit going.)
